New Hope In Africa is a newly formed Christian based nonprofit organization. Mike and Melody Vanderhoff formed this organization to initially work in Mozambique and will branch out to other countries in Africa when the opportunity arises. Our goals are to provide safe clean drinking water to the people of Mozambique, by drilling wells or rehabbing existing wells.

Our plan is to first provide the water, then plant a church and next a school. We have a Non Government Organization (NGO) partner in Mozambique, New Hope Association. This organization was formed by Dr. Zefanias Chihulume a native of Mozambique. Zef was educated in the USA and could find no higher calling than to serve the people in need in his home country. Zef is also one of the Board of Directors of New Hope In Africa.

The focus of our organization in this end is threefold:

1) Safe-Drinking Water in the Rural Areas:

This continues to be a crucial need and our help can make a difference. As an organization we already identified a drilling company to work with us until we get our own Drilling Rig. New Hope for Africa and New Hope Association will work together to get funding for wells and then our New Hope Association in this end will hire a company to do the work and we will keep all the records and invoices for auditing purposes.

2) Leadership Development and Child care:

This is a long term project in which we plan to help vulnerable children get education and, if possible at all, provide them with shelter. We were able to secure a land where we will have an education centre. In the last 5 years the government made a decision to provide a free and accessible elementary education (from first grade to seventh grade) for everyone. Given this decision, many kids are able to attend elementary education. It is in this line that we think our education centre can contribute in providing a secondary school (from eighth grade to 12th grade) and, If conditions allow us, we may also build an orphanage in the same land or in a place nearby.

3) Evangelism and Church Planting:

Both the education centre and the head office are located in developing areas where we can easily plan new churches and bring new souls to Christ.

The aforementioned points are the basic areas which we intend to focus on. We know that there are so many needs and we cannot address them all at once, but we feel called to actively work together to help and transform the world.
